About Us
Our Mission: Healing Heroes Foundation is a first responder–run nonprofit dedicated to supporting the well-being of high-risk service professionals and their families.
We bridge the gap between those who serve and the care they deserve. Through a year-round network, we foster connection via peer support, direct access to resources, and active community involvement.
In collaboration with the Boston Bruins Foundation, we host the BFit Heroes Cup—the nation’s largest first responder and military hockey tournament. This event serves as a powerful platform for our community, bringing thousands together to strengthen the bonds of camaraderie.
Every year, our growing network makes one thing clear—this community is a lifeline. Our mission is to make sure that sense of belonging, safety, and support lasts far beyond one weekend.
Our Origin
Formerly known as the Hero's Cup Foundation, the Healing Heroes Foundation was established in 2016 by co-founders Mike and Caiti Matros. In an effort to raise funds for the Last Call Foundation, the Hero’s Cup Foundation began as a one game fundraiser. The next year, the Hero’s Cup hockey tournament began with the mission to promote fitness, build camaraderie, and raise funds for first responder and military charities. In 2018, the BFit Heroes Cup was born when the Hero’s Cup Foundation partnered with the Boston Bruins Foundation to host the country's largest first responder and military hockey tournament. In 2023, the Matros family hosted their last tournament before introducing your current co-directors, EJ and Jaime Nicholas. Following the cancellation of the 2024 BFit Heroes Cup, the Hero’s Cup Foundation evolved into the Healing Heroes Foundation with a mission to support first responder and military well-being.

Our Vision
Our vision is to create a network for support and resources that empower our heroes to prioritize their well-being without fear or judgment or repercussions. We envision a future where every first responder and military member, active or retired, feels comfortable seeking help and is met with the compassion and assistance they need.
